About Me

Mark McEwan

What do I think sets me apart from other personal trainers around the world? I believe it's my compassionate side stemming from my own concerns about joining a gym as a teenage in addition to my genuine passion for health and fitness as a way of life.

Before getting into fitness I was a small-built shy teenager who lacked confidence. I wished I had the confidence to go to the gym and when I finally did, I will never forget that feeling of stepping into the gym for the first time. I felt out of place, like people were staring at me because I didn't belong and it is this common fear about going to a gym that I want to help people overcome.

I learned from my own experieneces exactly the sort of trainer that I wanted to be and believe that I now am. I am the kind of trainer that has empathy towards your struggles, someone you feel has your best interests at heart and above all someone you can trust. I have a keen interest in biomechanics and will tailor your exercises and workplan so that it's specific to you and your individual goals and needs.

Experience

I started my fast track to health and fitness course at Jewel and Esk college in 2008, moving to my HNC in health and fitness and then my level 3 in personal training. I have worked with trainers Since then I have never stopped learning as I believe that to become a credible trainer, you have to have to continually upskill yourself, learn new methods and have a genuine interest in health and fitness. The information out there is endless, you will never know it all and I love that it makes my job easier with all the information at hand.

Over the years I have managed to help so many people by becoming a level 3 exercise referral coach, level 3 enhanced training systems instructor, corrective exercise specialised, level 4 strength and condition coach and an olympic lifting coach.

My work experience varies I have worked in health clubs, leisure clubs, fitness clubs and gyms. In these companies I have worked as a fitness instructor, class instructor, life guard, personal trainer, supervisor, assistant manager and club manager.

My thirst for knowledge inevitably led me to club manager, I have always had a curiosity to know how things work. Club manager was not what made me happy and although I could still be a personal trainer I believed I owed it to my clients to devote all my time to them which is why I currenly am a full time personal trainer and I love every minute of it.
